BOARD & TRAIN DOG TRAINING FOR CENTRAL ISLIP
No time to train your dog every single day? K9 Advanced takes dogs from Central Islip, NY 11722 for a two-week or four-week intensive program, then hands back a dog who listens, along with the instructions and the coaching to keep him that way.
Over twenty years of training Long Island dogs. A limited number of dogs are taken at a time, because a board and train program running twelve dogs at once is a boarding kennel with a better name on the sign. The consultation is free.
Central Islip runs north of the Sunrise Highway corridor along Carleton Avenue, Suffolk Avenue and Wheeler Road, with the ballpark on Court House Drive, the federal courthouse and the law school campus inside its borders. It is one of the more densely built hamlets in the Town of Islip.
Central Islip has a high share of first-time owners, rescues and large working breeds living in close quarters with children. That combination makes household structure the priority, not tricks. Threshold manners, a solid place command and a recall that works under pressure matter far more here than anything you can show off at a party.
We take the work out to the sidewalks along Carleton Avenue and the open ground near the ballpark, where there is enough noise and movement to test whether the obedience is real.
Your dog trains in short repeated sessions throughout the day with structured downtime in between. Repetition spread across a whole day is what builds a habit. One class a day and twenty-three hours in a run does not.
Two weeks covers manners, obedience and leash control. Four adds supervised off-leash work and real-world outings. We will tell you which one your dog actually needs, including when the honest answer is that in-home sessions would serve you better.
A trained dog handed back to an untrained household reverts inside a month. Before your dog leaves we teach you the commands, the timing and the household rules, and we are direct with you about what happens if they get dropped.
We are in East Islip, a short drive from Central Islip. Drop-off, updates during the stay and the go-home session are all scheduled around a normal working week.
One phone call, no script and no sales pitch. We want the history, the triggers and the timeline before we say anything about what it will take.
The first visit is mostly watching. Where the dog puts himself, what he guards, who he listens to and who he ignores. That tells us more than any questionnaire.
You get a written plan, a realistic timeline and a firm price. Nothing starts until you have all three and have decided you want it.
The last stage is always the family. Same commands, same timing, same standard, held by everyone who lives with the dog.
Board and train is a flat rate for the two-week or the four-week program, and the number depends on your dog's age, size and what genuinely needs correcting. We do not publish one price because the honest answer is that a nine-month-old lab who jumps is a different job from a four-year-old shepherd who guards. Call, describe the behavior, and you will have an exact figure and a start date before you commit to anything.
Tell us what your dog is doing and we will tell you honestly what it takes to fix it, before you spend a dollar.
Serving Central Islip, NY 11722 and all of Nassau & Suffolk County
Yes. Central Islip and the 11722 area are part of our regular service area, along with Islandia, Islip, Ronkonkoma and the rest of Suffolk County. We also take dogs from across Nassau County.
The two-week intensive covers greeting people without jumping, sit, down, place, stay and recall, loose-leash walking and heel, socialization with other dogs and household manners. The four-week program includes all of that and adds off-leash work in weeks three and four, plus supervised outings into real-world distraction so the obedience holds away from home.
Your dog lives in a home environment with structure, supervision and genuine downtime between training sessions rather than sitting in a kennel run waiting for the next class. Ask on the phone and we will walk you through the daily schedule.
You will get updates while your dog is with us. Visits are handled case by case, because an early visit can undo a week of progress with a dog who is still settling into the new structure.
Your dog's regular food, his bedding and current vaccination records. Keep the food the same. A diet change on top of a new routine is how you end up with an upset stomach in week one.
It holds when the household holds the line, which is exactly why the go-home lesson is built into the program instead of sold as an extra. You get the commands, the timing and the rules, and we are candid about what happens if they get dropped.
Only a limited number of dogs are taken at a time, so spots fill and the calendar moves. Call 631-405-4220 for the next available start date.
